Hi all – details of news and runs below.

The cross country season starts this week! See below for details of the first event, the North Midlands XC League race at Markeaton Park, Derby.

Nottingham Performance Event: Some of you may remember Isabelle Alexander, who was a member of the club. She has brought a free Zoom event for sports coaches to our attention, taking place Tuesday, 25 October, 7 – 8 pm. If you are interested in signing on to participate the details are in the attached leaflet.

Dates for diaries:

The Christmas Party will be on Friday, 16^th December at Chilwell Manor Golf Club, £20 a ticket. This includes food and a disco. Please let Phil Herd know if you would like ticket(s).

The mystery pub crawl will be on Wednesday, 7^th December. Details to follow.

The AGM will take place on Wednesday, 9^th November, at Beeston Marina. The Single Gravs Handicap will take place prior to the meeting.

Club runs

Gaby Neher leads trail runs on Thursdays, 6.20 for 6.30 pm, and the current meeting point is at the White Lion, Town Street, Bramcote. It would be advisable to take a head or chest torch and wear light coloured clothing.

Friday, 14 October: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Toilets and changing rooms are open. Please bring a chest or head torch for a run round Toton, nearly 6 miles.

Saturday, 15 October: See you at Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns including Wollaton Hall are also available on the web link.

Today also sees the first cross country race of the season at Markeaton Park. Good luck to all who turn up! The women’s senior/vet race is at 1.50 pm (6K) and the men’s senior/ vet race is at 2.20 pm (10K in distance). Car parking charges are £2.60 for up to 2 hours and £4 for up to 4 hours. Car parks are situated off the A38/A52 Markeaton Island Roundabout and the Mundy Play Centre car park is on Markeaton Lane at DE22 4NH.

Sunday, 16 October: Unfortunately John and Gaby are not available again – if anyone would like to put themselves forward to lead the Sunday run, please post on the Club Facebook page.

Good luck to anyone racing today – a few people may be doing the Stilton Stumble among other races.

Tuesday, 18 October: The location changes in the winter months. Further details of the session will be posted on Facebook. Sessions start at 6.30 pm; please arrive early to warm up if appropriate.

Wednesday, 19 October: Please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Neil will post the routes on Facebook as usual.

Sat 7 Jan: County Championships, Shipley Country Park, Heanor

Sat 14 Jan: North Midlands League, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield

Sat 28 Jan: Midlands Championships, Leamington Spa

Sat 25 Feb: English National Championships, TBC (no longer Harewood House)

TBC: East Midlands League (usually 4 x Sunday dates)
