Beeston AC News – Lots of Dates for the Diary

Hi all – hope you are all well. There are lots of dates being advertised for races of all sorts so it’s worth a circulation – let’s hope we’re on course for these to take place! I'm hoping I'll be able to write round in a couple of weeks about club training sessions! 😀

England Athletics has published an update on 16 March which includes a draft 2021 Competition Calendar and more guidance on track and field competition, so there’s very little impact on Beeston AC activities. The roadmap remains the same so we are currently hoping for a return to club training sessions as from Tuesday 30th March (speed) and Wednesday 31st for the club run from Chilwell.

Well done: to everyone who successfully completed the Run for the Trees challenge! Hopefully a little Beeston AC copse will be growing shortly in the National Forest!

Grass track: the grass track behind Chilwell School/Olympia is slowly but surely emerging for those of you who like to train on it!

Further reminder about Membership:

Many thanks to the many members who have paid their fees for 2021. These will be passed on to England Athletics on Thursday, 1 April for the 2020/1 year.

Dan Rawson has written to all current members about renewal of membership. The fee remains at £20 (£15 of which goes to EA). The preferred method is to pay by bank transfer:

Account name: Beeston AC

Sort Code: 40 10 06

Account Number: 62266253.

Please let Dan know (email danielrawson269@hotmail.com) when you have transferred membership money, please also let him know if you do not wish to renew. It would also be helpful if you can let us know if you have moved so that we have current addresses for everyone. Alternatively, membership can be paid by cheque, made payable to Beeston AC.

Please send cheques to: Mr D Rawson, 95 Exchange Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 6BX.

The updated guidance from England Athletics from 24 February 2021 has been published (paraphrased where this is relevant to our club):

“We are pleased to confirm that clubs, groups, coaching and competition can return outdoors from 29 March for both adults and children, in line with the UK Government’s roadmap for easing lockdown restrictions announced on 22 February.

No earlier than 12th April (Step 2)

·         As above with the addition of indoor leisure facilities being able to open for use individually or within household groups

No earlier than 17th May (Step 3)
