Runs and Races with Beeston AC

Hi all – information about next week’s club runs and other news is below. Apologies for slight delay in circulation!

Well done to: everyone who participated or supported the London and Chester marathons – the supporters were fantastic! Some great times and PBs from the runners. Good luck to this weekend’s marathoners in Manchester: Dave Beighton, Dave Bish, Tim Hills and Mathieu Lecoeuche, wishing you all success.

AGM: The AGM is scheduled to take place on 10 November, preceded by the Single Gravs Handicap race. The venue will once again be the Marina.

The following vacancies have arisen on the Committee: Ladies’ Representative, Members’ Representative and Chair – please see http://beestonac.com/bac-committee for further information about the roles available and/or speak to any member of the Committee if you are interested. Nominations are to be supported by a proposer and seconder in the Club; the deadline is 26 October).

The formal notice and draft agenda of the AGM will shortly be circulated to all registered first claim members, together with the standard request for any suggested amendments to the Constitution.

Nominations are invited for the Athlete of the Year. The proposer should send a brief summary of reasons why they feel the individual deserves the award to the Club Secretary via this email address, together with the name of a seconder, by 26 October.

Christmas Party: The Club Christmas party will be held on Friday, 10 December at Chilwell Golf Club. Please let Phil Herd know via the Facebook post or by email if you would like tickets, £15 each. Disco and late bar to 12 Midnight.

Club runs

Friday, 8 October:  6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. The run will be a head torch run. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Chilwell Olympia.

Saturday, 9 October: See you at Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns (including Wollaton Hall) are also available on the weblink.

Sunday, 10 October: in view of the large number of members taking part in the Goose Fair Gallop this weekend, the SUNDAY RUN IS CANCELLED. If you wish to find a running companion on Sunday please put a post on the Club’s Facebook page.

How about post Gallop drinks in Kimberley? Suggestions are either the Nelson and Railway (Station Road) or The Stag (Nottingham Road).

Tuesday, 12 October: Speed session – details will be posted on Facebook. Sessions start at 6.30 pm and please arrive early to warm up if appropriate.

Wednesday, 13 October: please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia Penny (and possibly Chris) have a group of Improvers setting off at the same time and we would welcome new runners along – we are starting a 5K to 10K programme next week. Do tell anyone you think may be interested!

Gaby Neher is also leading trail runs most Thursdays, 6.30 pm (now please come prepared with a head/chest torch).

Entries open for the Turkey Trot on Monday, 11 October at 8.00 am (£25) – see https://www.turkeytrot.org.uk/ for details, including changes to the usual arrangements.

Cross Country 2021/22:

The first North Midlands XC League race is due to take place at Markeaton Park on Saturday, 16^th October. The ladies’ race will be at 13.50 (6K) and the men’s race (10K) at 14.20. The other races in the League will be Wicksteed Park, Kettering (13 November), Shipley Country Park, Heanor (4 December) and Berry Hill Park, Mansfield (15 January).

Relays – please let Charlie know if you are interested in being in a team for any of these relays below for him to gauge interest/team planning.

Saturday, 23 October: Midlands Relays – (likely to be West Midlands)

Saturday, 30 October: British Masters Relays (age 35+ only), West Park, Long Eaton – trophies to defend here!

Saturday, 6 November: English National Relays, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield. As this is a national event, the Club will cover half your entry fee (there is a limit on the number of teams we can enter, so please express your interest in this early!)
