AGM and Single Gravs

Congratulations to Alec McLean who successfully beat his handicap to come first in the Single Gravs last night! Well done! Results attached.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the AGM last night, a very successful evening at the Marina as always. I hope to circulate the Minutes very shortly.

For information, the Athlete of the Year is Charlie Pearce – many congratulations.

The London Marathon places were drawn as follows:

Draw one – Ian Sayers, reserve Sam Barfield

Draw two – Karen Barnfield, reserve Bob Frake.

Congratulations Ian and Karen – enjoy the training!

The mystery pub crawl will be on Wednesday, 7^th December. Details to follow.

The Christmas Party will be on Friday, 16^th December at Chilwell Manor Golf Club, £20 a ticket. This includes food and a disco. Please let Phil Herd know if you would like ticket(s).

Message from Barrie Humphriss: Barrie accidentally picked up a Beeston AC medium size vest at the BMAF relays at West Park – please could the owner FB message him, and he will return it.

Club runs

Gaby Neher leads trail runs on Thursdays, 6.20 for 6.30 pm, and the current meeting point is at the White Lion, Town Street, Bramcote. Please take a head or chest torch, wear light coloured clothing and trail shoes (it will be muddy now).

Friday, 11 November: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Toilets and changing rooms are open. Please wear light clothing and bring a chest or head torch. It’s the Toton route this week.

Saturday, 12 November: Beeston parkrun will be on at 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns including Wollaton Hall are also available on the web link.

The North Midlands XC race at Corby takes place today – good luck to all running.

Sunday, 13 November: Simon Hall is in charge this week, so please meet at 8.50 am for a 9.00 am start from Stanton Gate, Moorbridge Lane. Thanks Simon!

Forthcoming Speed sessions – 6.30 pm start

15^th November: Location Thane Road, meet at Boots/tip end (by roundabout). Session is 800m x 6, run leader Tasso Gazis

22^nd November: Location Uni/Science Park, meet Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building, session 6 x 3 minutes. Run leader Dave Bish

29^th November: Location the Hills of Bramcote. Meet Nigel’s, The Lawns (just off Town Street near top of Cow Lane). Session is hills – 110% effort. Run leader is Nigel Turner.

Wednesday, 16 November: Please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Neil will post the routes on Facebook as usual.

Sat 7 Jan: County Championships, Shipley Country Park, Heanor

Sat 14 Jan: North Midlands League, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield

Sat 28 Jan: Midlands Championships, Leamington Spa

Sat 25 Feb: English National Championships, Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire

East Midlands League dates are as follows (all 11.00 am starts):

Race 1 – Sunday, 22 January 2023, Holme Pierrepont NG12 2LU

Race 2 – Sunday, 29 January, Bramcote Park, NG9 3GD

Race 3 – Sunday, 5 February, Colwick Woods NG3 7EB

Race 4 – Sunday, 12 February, West Park, Long Eaton NG10 4AA.

Registered members can turn up for the North Midlands and East Midlands League races for free; Charlie Pearce will put a shout out on Facebook when inviting members to express interest for other races for which a small fee is payable (for example the Nationals).
