East Midlands Cross Country: It’s the final race on Sunday the 13th February at West Park, Long Eaton – meeting point near the Leisure Centre. A flat course, with possible moat feature – but let's hope not! The combined series results are attached for information. Let’s do this!
Fell League – message from Dave Bish, our League Secretary: As we return from Covid, lots of our regular Fell Races haven't been confirmed, so we're adopting a slightly different scoring system (borrowed from another club) that suits the fun sport of fell racing and allows more flexibility and keeps things competitive. This isn't likely to change the overall result of the league, and will be reviewed for future years.
Simply, you can score points for any 8 FRA (Fell Runners Association) between Wolf's Pit in March and Baslow Bolt in November. List of races attached. Points will be scored using an Age Category score out of 100 points at each race -based on your time relative to the best person in your age category in that race.
The Fell Sec will check results on our Recommended List. If you want to score for a fell race outside that list in the Peaks, Lakes or anywhere else, let Dave know to check the results. Get in touch to find out about fell running or to join our Liftshare whatsapp.
Road League – please find attached a list of the races proposed by Dave Cross, our Road League Secretary. The best 9 races will count out of the 16 listed, but if some of the races don’t take place alternatives will be found or the number of scoring events will be reduced.
Membership: Many thanks to everyone who has so far paid their membership. Dan Rawson our Treasurer has emailed everyone advising that membership fees are payable for 2022/3. The fee remains £20 and the preferred payment method is bank transfer: Account name Beeston AC, sort code 40-10-06 account number 62266253. Please include your full name in the payment reference field. Alternatively, please send cheques to Mr D Rawson, 95 Exchange Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 6BX.
Save the Date: The Committee met this week to begin arrangements for the 2022 edition of the Trent 5, which will provisionally be on Wednesday, 25 May (subject to confirmation). We would like to organise a Beeston AC takeover at parkrun on 9 April for advertising the race and handing out leaflets; if you would like to be a volunteer on the rota that day please contact Gaby Neher via the Facebook post or the parkrun team at beeston@parkrun.com .

Club runs
Friday, 11 February: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. The run will be to Long Eaton, around 6 miles. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Chilwell Olympia.
Saturday, 12 February: See you at Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns (including Wollaton Hall) are also available on the web link. Sunday, 13 February: No club run from Stanton Gate today as we are going to the East Midlands Cross Country League race at the Leisure Centre, West Park, Long Eaton NG10 4AA; the race starts at 11.00 am.
Tuesday, 15 February: Speed session – details will be posted on Facebook. Sessions start at 6.30 pm and please arrive early to warm up if appropriate.
Wednesday, 16 February: please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Neil will post the routes on Facebook as usual. Gaby Neher is also leading trail runs on Thursdays, 6.30 pm which usually start by the Moor Lane running track, NG9 3FH. Details to follow on Facebook. |
