Beeston AC News – AGM, London Marathon Places, AOTY Nominations

Hi everyone – details of news and runs below.

Welcome to new member Megan Hocking: happy running with Beeston AC!

London Marathon Places: Please see Dave Cross’s post on Facebook if you wish to put your name forward for a place in the ballot. Two places are available – eligibility criteria are set out in Dave's post. The places are for first claim paid up members, who have a rejection letter from the LM ballot, and have been a member for at least a year prior to the draw. In addition, one place will be reserved for a member who has never run in the London Marathon before with the other place being for members who have not run in the London Marathon in the last 2 years. Please email Dave if you wish to be in the draw, which will take place at the AGM.

AGM

The AGM will take place on Wednesday, 9th November, at Beeston Marina (chip cobs will be available). The Single Gravs Handicap will be held prior to the AGM and Steve Miles is the guest handicapper. If you would like to run or volunteer to be a marshal, please leave a message on the Facebook post or send me a message to pass on if you aren’t on Facebook. It will be in the dark so a head or chest torch would be a good idea. More details about the Single Gravs Handicap, including a map of the route, are on the Club’s website at https://beestonac.com/single-gravs .

Nominations are invited for the Athlete of the Year. The award exists to recognise a member’s outstanding achievement over the previous 12 months. This can be for individual athletic performance and/or contribution to Beeston AC. Individuals must be first claim members of Beeston AC. Potential nominees should be proposed and seconded by fellow first claim members of Beeston AC. The proposer should send details of the nomination to the Secretary including a brief summary of reasons why they feel the individual deserves the award.

Up to 6 candidates will be shortlisted upon receipt of the nominations and a ballot will be organised to select the ‘Athlete of the Year’. The award will be made at the AGM. If you would like to propose a fellow member for this award, please send in your nomination by 25 October.

The formal notice and draft agenda of the AGM will be circulated shortly to all registered first claim members, together with the standard request for any suggested amendments to the Constitution and agenda items.

The mystery pub crawl will be on Wednesday, 7th December. Details to follow.

The Christmas Party will be on Friday, 16th December at Chilwell Manor Golf Club, £20 a ticket. This includes food and a disco. Please let Phil Herd know if you would like ticket(s).
