The Whissendine six mile road race and walk was first staged in 1985 and has become a popular event in the running calendar. The event starts and finishes in the Rutland village with the course following a circuit consisting of back-road lanes bordering Stapleford Park. The Whissendine six road race is open to both individual runners and teams of over six, which must contain at least two females. Live commentary is also provided on the night and the village brownies provide a barbecue, the ‘Sausage Sizzle’. All entrants receive a race memento and bottle of beer supplied by race sponsors Grainstore Brewery in Oakham, there will be prizes for all category winners.
