4. Social Event: Message from Jane Lewis

Thank you to all those who have already signed up for the Summer Buffet and Get-Together on Sunday 29th July. It's not too late yet to put your name on the list and come and join your running friends at The Star for a summer celebration. Unfortunately it appears the ‘Frothy 5’ is being postponed for the time being. The buffet will be served around 6pm and then we all tuck into a selection of cakes provided by Chris Bexton who is celebrating her 'special' birthday on the same day.

If you haven't already done so and would like to join us please add your name to the poll on the Facebook post in Beeston AC or send me a message at janel4030@yahoo.co.uk

Buffet costs £5 per person (under 12's free) myself and Penny Page will collect this at running club nights.

5. Well done and thanks

To everyone participating in races in the last week; these included the Newstead Abbey Dash and there was a great turn out at the Crich Monument Race. Many thanks to HPRC for allowing us to join in on their track championships at Bingham – some sterling performances! Good luck to everyone tonight at the Hardwick 10K.

6. Bingham Track Session, Wednesday 15th August from Nottinghamshire Athletics Network

Information is attached about an evening of track races to be held at Bingham Track on Wed 15th August. These races are aimed at encouraging road runners who compete in the Notts AAA Road Race League to have a go at running over accurately measured distances on a track. These races are NOT promoted for experienced track runners and entries from juniors are NOT encouraged. A maximum of 20 runners will be accepted in each race. Entries should be made by email and will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

If you would like to do this please see the poster for details of how to enter; a few of us went last year and had an enjoyable evening. The evening will end with a 4 x 400m relay event, which should be fun!

7. Catherine Wilson and Andy Mothershaw are leaving! Message from Sophie Eadsforth

Hi all, I am arranging Catherine and Andy’s leaving do. They are moving to New Zealand and we need to give them a good send-off even though we all feel sad that they are leaving Beeston behind.

If you are free on Sunday 22nd July then I am planning for us to meet at the Co-op car park at 8.30 to go to the Peak District for a run – they will take us on a route they know (looking like Hathersage at the moment). We can plan to car share when I know who is coming.

From 3.30 food and drinks at our house …. let me know if you fancy coming along? Email sopheads@talktalk.net .

8. Autumn Trip

A reminder that the Autumn Trip will be to Amsterdam. The races will take place on Sunday, 21 October and options include: full marathon (€75), half marathon (€29.50) and 8K (€16). Further details available at http://www.tcsamsterdammarathon.nl/en/registration/. The airline will be www.flybe.com . Rab’s suggestion for an hotel is The Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre (click on link for details of offers).
