Hi all – information about next week’s club runs and other news is below.
Well done to everyone who ran at the BMAF relays last Saturday, and especially to everyone who turned out in pouring rain to do the Worksop Half Marathon – some cracking times! Good luck for everyone doing the XC relays in Mansfield on Saturday!
Vote for Athlete of the Year: A second email with the voting link and information about the 7 athletes nominated has been sent to all paid up first claim members. The closing date will be Sunday 8 November, Midnight.
Single Gravs handicap, Wednesday, 10th November 6.30 pm: this will be held prior to the AGM, which will be at The Marina at 7.30 pm. Please meet on Trent Vale Road (NG9 1ND) before the start. Dave Cross is the guest handicapper. If you would like to run (there are now enough marshals), please leave a message on the Facebook post or send me a message to pass on if you aren’t on Facebook. It will be in the dark so a head or chest torch would be a good idea. The deadline for entries is Monday, 8 November.
Midland Counties 7 & 5 Mile Cross Country Championships, Saturday 20th November, Bulwell Hall Park, Nottingham: Apologies for the very late notice, but we have only just received details of this year's 7 & 5 Mile Championships.
Women's 5 mile race at 13:00 Men's 7 mile race at 14:00
As well as the individual race, first 6 men and first four women score in the team competition, and the really quick runners could also score for Notts in the incorporated Inter-Counties Championship. EDIT: Entry is open to all, but only athletes qualifying by birth or 9 months' residence in the Midlands are eligible for team scoring. Midlands does not include Derbyshire as they're part of the North, by 'eck. Entry is £9 per runner – paid to Charlie Pearce please as it's one entry per team. If you want to take part he needs to know ASAP as the closing date is Wed 10 November, and they're asking for the entry form by post! Please message him direct and transfer money (ask if you need bank details).
Research Project: Some of you may know I have recently been participating in a research project being undertaken at Nottingham Trent University on Implications of Healthy Ageing across the life-span. This is being run by Dr Jessica Piasecki, a Sports Scientist at NTU Clifton Campus (and a very successful athlete!). The team is looking for more volunteers (active, and non-active people across all ages) so if anyone is interested please get in touch and I’ll pass on the details.

Club runs
Friday, 5 November: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. The run will be a head torch run in the nature reserve of around 5.5 miles. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Chilwell Olympia.
Saturday, 6 November: See you at Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns (including Wollaton Hall) are also available on the web link. Sunday, 7 November: Please meet at 8.50 am for a 9.00 am start from Stanton Gate, Moorbridge Lane.
Tuesday, 9 November: NO Speed session this week as the Single Gravs will take place on Wednesday. Please check Facebook in case there is a replacement run.
Wednesday, 10 November: NO CLUB RUN THIS WEEK as it’s the Single Gravs Handicap plus AGM at Beeston Marina, Riverside Road, NG9 1NA. Gaby Neher is also leading trail runs most Thursdays, 6.30 pm. |

Cross Country 2021/22:
The North Midlands XC League races are: Wicksteed Park, Kettering (13 November), Shipley Country Park, Heanor (4 December) and Berry Hill Park, Mansfield (15 January). The ladies’ race will be at 13.50 (6K) and the men’s race (10K) at 14.20.
