Fwd: Latest update from Beeston AC inc new EA Guidance

Hi all
Hope you are all keeping well and able to continue to train as lock-down continues. A few bits of news.
1. Star Wars May Challenge
Congratulations to the series winner Phil Herd, who made the best predictions on his times for running a 5K, 10K, 10 miles and half marathon! Well done Phil! Well done also to Lucy Grant for being closest with her half marathon prediction and winning the last chocolate bunny as a result. I wonder if it has already been eaten?!
2. June challenges
There is no club challenge as such this month; however, the COVID-19 odd and even relay round 2 continues ( https://docs.google.com/…/1d6gxEM9ftHuH2P8YH6DJaY4qum…/edit…).
Charlie Pearce has done a useful round up of all the virtual events available and this is copied here (thanks Charlie!):

1-30 June: Open EMA 10K (€3) – https://data.opentrack.run/x/2020/CHE/ema_june/

14-20 June: British Masters Virtual 5K Relays (optional donation) – https://data.opentrack.run/x/2020/GBR/bmaf-virtual-rr/

18-21 June: BMC 3k (optional donation) – https://data.opentrack.run/x/2020/GBR/bmc3k/

July: Open EMA 1 mile TBC

August: Open EMA Half marathon TBC

September: Open EMA 3K TBC

October: Open EMA 1500m TBC.

Most of these events can be entered for free or a small entry fee, and runners can make an optional donation to a good cause. The British Masters Virtual 5K relays in particular have had a lot of entries, with local clubs being well represented. Twenty Beestonites are in so far (including James Beeston – luckily Tonbridge colours are similar to ours!). Now that we've worked out how to upload results these can give you an opportunity to challenge yourself and be part of a team.

3. New Statement from England Athletics

EA has this week produced new guidance for runners and other athletes and the full statement is available at https://www.englandathletics.org/athletics-and-running/news/guidance-update-step-2/ (also attached).

Once EA gives permission for registered clubs to re-commence club training sessions as usual then you will be informed (together with any restrictions there may be in place), but for the present the guidance in this document applies, which is that 'athletics and running coaching activity can take place in groups of up to six (6) or one coach and up to five (5) athletes. These individuals do not need to be from the same family household, but ALL must adhere to the latest social distancing guidance.'

If you wish to receive regular updates from England Athletics, you can join the email list by going to your profile at https://myathletics.englandathletics.org/portal/Members/Login and signing in to update your 'communication preferences' to indicate you wish to receive news updates, details of registered athlete offers etc.

4. Updated Road League

Sad to say that more races are being cancelled and so the latest version of the 2020 Road League is attached for information. Fingers crossed some of the remaining races will take place!

Kind regards

Chris
