Runs and Races with Beeston AC

Beeston AC Weekly Newsletter: 4 October 2018

 

1. Club runs 5 October to 10 October 2018 inclusive

Friday, 5 October – there will be a training run from Chilwell Olympia; meet in the foyer at 6.25 for a 6.30 pm depart. Distance 5-7 miles, drinks after in the Crown, usually from 9.00 pm onwards. As the sun is setting earlier now, please wear something light or hi-vis so that you can be seen easily by drivers and others whilst on club runs.

Saturday, 6 October – Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/ .

Sunday, 7 October – the weekly Sunday run is from Moorbridge Lane, Stanton Gate, meeting time is 8.50 am to start at 9.00 am, distance about 10 miles over footpaths and trails.

A number of members are doing the Goose Fair Gallop as well on this date. Good luck!

Tuesday, 9 October:  David Patrick will be in charge. Details to follow on Facebook.

Tuesday Rebel Runners, Chilwell, The Village Hotel:  This is usually a 5K run (sometimes with other options); details of the run are posted weekly on the Rebel Runners Facebook page. Meet 6.30 pm in the foyer for 6.40 pm depart. A new beginners course is starting this week.

Wednesday, 10 October – there will be a training run from Chilwell Olympia; meet in the foyer at 6.25 for a 6.30 pm depart. Distance 5-7-10 miles. Penny Page will also be there to lead the beginners and improvers on a run. Please remember to wear something light/hi-vis.

3. Brooks try on evening at Up and Running, Huntingdon Street

 

Jess Harrison has kindly arranged a try on night at Up and Running for Beeston AC members, for 6.00 pm onwards on Thursday, 25 October. The Brooks rep will be there with a selection of running shoes and running bras for people to try on. There would be an option of going for a short run (probably around 5K) to test out the goods at about 6.30/6.45 pm. There would be no pressure to buy anything, but Club members can get 10% off all full price stock. There is the option to go for a drink after as well. If you are interested, please can you complete the poll on the Club’s Facebook page.

 

4. Christmas Party

 

Due to increased numbers the venue is being changed to The Shed, Beeston Youth and Community Centre, Friday 14 December 7.30 pm till late. Cost £12 per person, please pay Penny Page or Jane Lewis by 1 November. There will be a disco from 8.00 pm and hot food provided by The Wolf Hut, followed by seasonal desserts and cakes!! 5. Voting for Athlete of the Year and notification of the AGM

 

An email listing the nominees, together with a link to the vote, has been circulated separately to first claim registered members. Please email me back if you have not received this and should have been on the circulation list. The closing date for votes is 25 October. The award will be presented at the forthcoming AGM, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 in the Victoria Hotel and notification of the AGM will also be sent out in the next few days.

7. Updated road league: Results of current standings are attached.

8. Well done

To everyone who ran at Robin Hood half marathon last week – some amazing times on a challenging and possibly(!) rather long course! Big thanks also to the many members, friends and relatives who turned up to support – it was much appreciated by all! Don’t forget to log any PBs at admin@beestonac.com J

 

9. Autumn Trip

A reminder that the Autumn Trip will be to Amsterdam. The races will take place on Sunday, 21 October and options include: full marathon (€75), half marathon (€29.50) and 8K (€16). Unfortunately booking is now closed for the races. Further details available at http://www.tcsamsterdammarathon.nl/en/registration/. The airline will be www.flybe.com . Rab’s suggestion for an hotel is The Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre (click on link for details of offers).
