Important Summer League News Beeston AC

Hello everyone – details of news and runs below.

Welcome to new members Ed Yau and Andrew Scott: happy running with Beeston AC!

Trent 5, 24 May: Entry is now open for our own race on Runbritain. Tell all your friends! The call for marshals and other volunteers is about to go out, please look out for an announcement. If you don’t use Facebook please contact this email address if you would like to volunteer.

Important Information – Instructions for runners for Summer League 2 at Chilwell Barracks, Wednesday 10th May:

This race is being run entirely on MOD land at Chetwynd Barracks and so for security reasons, runners will need to provide information in advance if they wish to run in the race.

Please note There is no arguing with the guy on the gate with the SA80 machine gun. If your name is not on his list, you really aren’t getting in! You cannot simply turn up.

If you intend to run, we need to know by Thursday 4th May at the latest. Please email the road race secretary David Cross at beestonrrsec@gmail.com with the following information

1.       Name

2.       Mode of transport. We need to know if you are driving, cycling or walking to the event. If driving, please maximise occupancy. We need to know the driver’s name and car registration number with passengers as appropriate. This is very important. Upon arrival, the camp guard will have your details in advance and this will ensure a speedy arrival process.

On race day everyone must have

•        Photo ID. Either a valid driving licence, passport, formal work ID eg NHS ID.

•        EA competition URN. Physical cards are not issued nowadays but EA membership details can be downloaded to a smart phone or printed off by every individual runner from the England Athletics website. Please log in beforehand and click the “edit my profile” link for this.

This is a new race and the Army/MOD are very enthusiastic about helping local sport. It is a traffic free course almost entirely on road which we hope to be able to use each year for the near future.

We would like to thank Rob Fox and his team at Long Eaton Running Club for organising this race which replaces the Teversal race on the 2023 calendar.

Vests: an order is being put in for vests (racer back a possibility for women) in a lightweight, recycled mesh fabric with is slightly more expensive at £24 but better quality. Gaby (gabyneher@gmail.com) is putting up a post with the lengths per size available; please let her know if you would like yours to be longer or shorter than the advertised length. Dave has also posted about orders for men’s vests.
