Hi all – this is a ** bumper edition ** to let everyone know about activities up to and including the Christmas period. Run off those mince pies and Christmas Pudding with Beeston AC! 🎄🎅🎉
Holme Pierrepont RC is coordinating the Christmas Relays on Tuesday, 28 December at 10.30 and Lucy Grant has kindly offered to organise teams. The venue is HP Country Park (car parking charges payable). Please let Lucy know by 24 December if you are interested in this via her Facebook post or email. It’s £20 per team – 2 x male, 2 x female, senior and vet. Get thinking up those team names! The run is about 4K and these relays are always fun.

Club runs
Friday, 17 December: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. The run will be the canal/road route of around 5.5 miles so please bring a head torch. Toilets and changing rooms are available at Chilwell Olympia.
Saturday, 18 December: See you at Beeston parkrun, 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns (including Wollaton Hall) are also available on the web link. Sunday, 19 December: As a special treat, it’s the “Two Bridges” run! If you fancy the full version (17 miles) please meet Gaby at 6.00 am at the Boathouse café to run anti-clockwise round to Sawley then back via Barton-in-Fabis, Clifton Grove etc. on the ‘other side’. If that’s a little early for you, there is the route 2 option (9-10 miles) – please meet Chris, also at the Boathouse Café at 7.30 am for a run to and back from Clifton Grove, hopefully meeting up with the route 1 runners. Both runs will be followed by a well-earned breakfast at Tony’s (around 9.30 am) so please bring some money with you.
Tuesday, 21 December: Speed session – details are on Facebook. Sessions start at 6.30 pm and please arrive early to warm up if appropriate. Tasso in charge this week – it’s hills at Ghost House Lane (near the tram stop on Eskdale Drive, Chilwell).
Wednesday, 22 December: please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. No improvers at present as Penny and Chris are taking a break. Gaby Neher is also leading trail runs most Thursdays, 6.30 pm which usually start by the Moor Lane running track, NG9 3FH. Friday, 24 December: it’s the Christmas Eve traditional run – a 10K figure of 8 loop round Attenborough NR. Please meet at Chilwell Olympia at 11.55 am for 12 Noon depart – Christmas attire is a definite possibility! Some runners may even sneak off for a seasonal beverage after depending on Government restrictions. Saturday, 25 December: for those who like to start Christmas Day with a run there is a choice of parkruns available – Beeston, Alvaston, Bestwood, Forest Rec and Long Eaton are all on. Sunday, 26 December: it’s the customary Boxing Day trot round Wollaton Park. Please meet in the car park in front of the Hall at 8.50 for a 9.00 start to run round the park boundaries (around 4.5 miles though some people like to add on another circuit). There are parking charges if you use the car park (contactless payment on via the RingGo app). Monday, 27 December and Tuesday, 28 December: let’s recuperate apart from the people who have chosen to participate in the Christmas Relays at Holme Pierrepont – support welcome! NO speed session this week. Wednesday, 29 December: please arrive at 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Thursday, 30 December, Sunrise 5K, 8.00 am: some of you may have seen that Susan Wheatcroft’s son Finley is organising a social fun run with the option of a finisher’s reward (courtesy of Virtual Runner) in return for a minimum donation of £5 to the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust. If you fancy taking part, this takes place at 8.00 am at the Weir Field Recreation Ground, NG9 1LX and there are 1 and 2-mile options as well as 5K. Gaby will also be posting details of a trail run today. Friday, 31 December: NO Club run –enjoy your New Year celebrations! Saturday, 1 January 2022: parkruns available include Bestwood, Clumber Park, Gedling, Colwick, Conkers, Long Eaton, Mansfield, Markeaton, Rushcliffe, Sherwood Pines, Shipley and Wollaton Hall parkrun. Cross Country 2021/22:
Notts AAA County Championships XC – Saturday 8th January 2022 – the closing date for entries has now passed.
The remaining North Midlands XC League race is Berry Hill Park, Mansfield (15 January). The ladies’ race will be at 13.50 (6K) and the men’s race (10K) at 14.20.
East Midlands XC League dates, 11.00 am start (2 laps for men, 1 for ladies):
