Hi everyone – details of news and runs below.

 

Well done to everyone who ran the Worksop Half Marathon on Sunday, and to all who participated in the BMAF National Relays.

 

AGM

The AGM will take place on Wednesday, 9th November, at Beeston Marina (approximately 7.00 pm). The formal notice and draft agenda of the AGM are being circulated to all registered first claim members tomorrow. The email addresses used will be those on the England Athletics portal. Please check that your details on the portal are up to date and do get in touch if your papers do not arrive.

 

The Single Gravs Handicap will be held prior to the AGM at 6.00 pm and Steve Miles is the guest handicapper. The meeting place is Trent Vale Road, NG9 1ND. The closing date for entries is Midnight, Friday 4 November.

 

We URGENTLY need more marshals, so please get in touch if you would like to volunteer. It will be in the dark so a head or chest torch would be advisable. More details about the Single Gravs Handicap, including a map of the route, are on the Club’s website at https://beestonac.com/single-gravs .

 

The mystery pub crawl will be on Wednesday, 7th December. Details to follow.

 

The Christmas Party will be on Friday, 16th December at Chilwell Manor Golf Club, £20 a ticket. This includes food and a disco. Please let Phil Herd know if you would like ticket(s).

 

 

Club runs

 

Gaby Neher leads trail runs on Thursdays, 6.20 for 6.30 pm, and the current meeting point is at the White Lion, Town Street, Bramcote. It would be advisable to take a head or chest torch and wear light coloured clothing.

 

Friday, 4 November: 6.25 for 6.30 pm depart, Chilwell Olympia. Toilets and changing rooms are open. Please wear light clothing and bring a chest or head torch – it's a head torch run round Attenborough Nature Reserve, around 5.5 miles.

 

Saturday, 5 November: Beeston parkrun will be on at 9.00 am at the Weirfields, Beeston Rylands NG9 1LZ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/beeston/. Details of other local parkruns including Wollaton Hall are also available on the web link.

 

The National XC relays take place today – good luck to all running!

 

Sunday, 6 November: Unfortunately John and Gaby are not available again – if anyone would like to put themselves forward to lead the Sunday run, please get in touch or post on the Club Facebook page.

 

Forthcoming Speed sessions on Tuesdays – 6.30 pm start

 

Tuesday, 8 November: This will be the “Tramalamadingdong” route, meeting at Cator Lane Tram Stop. session: 400m x 4, 800m x 2, 400m x 4, run leader Salome Maybanks.

 

15th November: Location Thane Road, meet at Boots/tip end (by roundabout). Session is 800m x 6, run leader Tasso Gazis

 

22nd November: Location Uni/Science Park, meet Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building, session 6 x 3 minutes. Run leader Dave Bish

 

29th November: Location: The Hills of Bramcote. Meet Nigel’s, The Lawns (just off Town Street near top of Cow Lane). Session is hills – 110% effort. Run leader is Nigel Turner.

 

Wednesday, 9 November: No Club run tonight as it’s the Single Gravs and the AGM – see you at the Marina!

Sat 7 Jan: County Championships, Shipley Country Park, Heanor

Sat 14 Jan: North Midlands League, Berry Hill Park, Mansfield

Sat 28 Jan: Midlands Championships, Leamington Spa

Sat 25 Feb: English National Championships, Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire

TBC: East Midlands League (usually 4 x Sunday dates)

 

Registered members can turn up for the North Midlands and East Midlands League races for free; Charlie Pearce will give put a shout out on Facebook when inviting members to express interest for other races for which a small fee is payable.
